Tourism chiefs hope that the appeal of the Giant's Causeway will woo more Chinese visitors to Co Antrim.

The famous tourist destination has already seen a 35% increase of Chinese tourists to the site over the last three years.

The National Trust's World Heritage site is being promoted in four major cities in China this week on a sales mission organised by Tourism Ireland.

The mission has already visited Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and the trip will finish in Guangzhou today.

Alexandra Mehaffy, tourism development manager for the Giant's Causeway and North Coast said: "China is an important emerging market with outbound travel expected to increase by 15% to 114 million trips this year and estimated to reach 20 million trips by 2020.

"The aim of the sales mission is to increase awareness of Ireland as a great holiday destination and do business with over 320 Chinese tour operators and travel agents."
