Trapped cow in mooving rescue by firefighters in Strabane
It was a very mooving rescue as a heifer cow became trapped in a 20 foot ravine in Strabane.
Firefighters attached a sling to the animal with the help of J&M Begley Building Contractors who were working nearby.
They were then able to lift the animal up out of the ravine with a Telehandler back into the field.
The cow returned unharmed by its rescue on the Liskey Road on Monday afternoon.
A NIFRS spokesman said: "We would like to remind Farmers at this time of year when animals are returning to the fields, to ensure that potential hazards such as broken fences, drains and ditches are properly maintained to keep animals safe and to reduce the risk of livestock getting into difficultly."
