Tribute event remembers Inez McCormack

An event to mark the life of the late human rights activist Inez McCormack is being held in Belfast next month.

The Out of the Ballrooms: Peace, Participation and Equality event is on Saturday, March 23 at Elmwood Hall in Belfast from 2-4pm.

The celebration is being organised by the Participation and the Practice of Rights organisation which Inez founded in 2006. It provides support to disadvantaged communities and groups.

Inez died last month after a short illness. Tributes were paid from a wide range of people including President of Ireland Michael D Higgins, former US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President of Ireland Mary Robinson and Meryl Streep, who portrayed Inez on stage in New York in 2010.
