Tribute paid to workplace tragedy man

BY CHRIS KILPATRICK

The employer of a father-of-two killed in a freak workplace accident said his death was like losing a family member.

George Wilson (51) is understood to have been moving vehicles when a car rolled into him. The accident happened on Saturday in a car park beside the Monaghan Brothers car dealership in Lisnaskea, Fermanagh.

A director of the firm said colleagues tried in vain to save Mr Wilson. "We are a family up there, not just employer and employees," said Jim Armitage.

Mr Wilson lived with his wife Jenny and their two daughters aged 10 and 14 in Newtownbutler.

Mr Wilson's wife was among the first on the scene and cradled him in her arms before he died.

The Health and Safety Executive is investigating the accident.
