Two arrested after crash woman left critically ill

By Staff Reporter

A woman is fighting for her life after a traffic collision on the A21 Bangor/Ards dual carriageway on Saturday evening.

Three men and the woman, aged in her 30s, were taken to hospital.

She remains in a critical condition.

The men suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The collision occurred on the Ards-bound carriageway at the junction with Green Road at around 11.20pm and involved a red Audi and a blue Renault.

Two men aged 22 were arrested in relation to the collision.

One was still in custody yesterday, assisting officers with their enquiries.

PSNI Inspector Jonathan Francey has appealed to anyone who witnessed the collision - or who saw either of the vehicles involved travelling in the area before the collision - to contact police in Newtownards on 101, quoting reference number 1481 18/02/17.

The road was closed for a number of hours in the wake of the collision, but has since re-opened.
