Two arrested as man left in critical condition after assault

A man aged in his 50s has been left in a critical condition after he was seriously assaulted in Coleraine early yesterday morning.

Two men have been arrested following the serious assault outside a property on the Ballycastle Road at around 1am.

Police said the victim was taken to hospital, where he received treatment for serious head injuries.

His condition was described as critical.

Detectives investigating the incident have arrested two men, aged 30 and 31.

They were taken into police custody yesterday.

Detective Sergeant Wallace is appealing for anyone who witnessed any form of altercation or anyone who has any information that can assist with the investigation to contact detectives in Coleraine Police Station on 101, quoting reference number 39 of 26/09/16.
