Two arrested over fake £50 notes

Two men have been arrested over the use of counterfeit £50 notes.

Police stopped a vehicle on the Dundalk Road in Newry in Thursday and recovered items from it.

Men aged 17 and 20 were detained after fake Bank of England notes were passed at businesses in Newry, Portadown, Armagh, Fermanagh and Tyrone.

Police advised businesses and members of the public to check notes carefully and report suspicions to them.
