Two men have been arrested following the report of two attempted vehicle hijackings in the Divis Street area of west Belfast on Thursday/

Police received the reports after 10pm and the two men were arrested nearby at about 10.15pm.

Inspector Paul Noble said: "One man, aged 19, was arrested on suspicion of attempted hijacking, possession of a class B controlled drug and possession of a class C controlled drug.

"The other male, aged 17, was arrested on suspicion of attempted hijacking, possession of an offensive weapon and breach of bail. Both males currently remain in custody assisting police with their enquiries."
