Two parrots stolen during Co Down break-in returned to owner
Two parrots stolen during a Co Down break-in earlier this week have been returned to their owner.
Three birds in total – two African Greys and an Amazonian – were stolen from Seaforde Gardens and Tropical Butterfly House near Newcastle.
Two have now been returned after a member of the public contacted the owner.
Police also discovered another bird amid searches in Newtownards, which was not one of the missing three parrots.
During a search of the house in Burnreagh Drive area, a number of other items - including boxes of washing powder stolen during burglaries in the Down area in recent days - were also recovered.
A 27-year-old man was arrested on suspicion of four counts of burglary, handling stolen goods and possession of class B and class C drugs.
He has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries.
