People living in Clough woke up last week to find vandals had plastered orange paint on a piece of public art placed at a roundabout on the outskirts of the village.

The life-size figure of a farmer walking along with a cow had been emblazoned with an orange sash.

The sight of the artwork sent supporters off to this year's Twelfth demonstrations in Comber with a chuckle.

Down district councillor William Walker says local people see the funny side of the vandal's handywork.

The DUP man said: "I thought it added a bit of colour to him, particularly at this time of year in the run-up to July.

"Maybe come the second Saturday in August they will put an Apprentice Boys sash on him?"
