Former Strictly Come Dancing star Vincent Simone has revealed how he had to persuade his new Northern Irish wife to join him for a first dance at the couple's wedding.

Vincent and his new wife, Susan Duddy from Altnagelvin, Co Londonderry, were joined by some of his former Strictly partners at the wedding, including former EastEnder Louisa Lytton and actress Dani Harmer.

He told Hello! Magazine their dance to Ronan Keating's track This I Promise You was one of the first times they had danced together.

He said: "Susan didn't want to do a choreographed first dance. She's very shy and doesn't like to be the centre of attention.

"She asked me to perform with one of my Strictly ex-partners but I said, 'No, it's our wedding, I want to dance with you.' We decided to do the normal smooch."

Susan told the magazine: "Dancing is his career and I am so used to him dancing with Flavia and the girls on Strictly.

"It may sound strange but Vincent and I had never really danced together."

The couple, who tied the knot at Castle Leslie in Co Monaghan, were joined by some of Simone's fellow contestants from I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here including Rebecca Adlington, David Emanuel and Matthew Wright, who was best man.

Describing the moment he saw his bride for the first time on the day, he said: "I felt incredibly emotional and was worried I wouldn't keep it together.

"I couldn't look back at Susan as she walked up the aisle because I was afraid I would dissolve into tears.

"She looked so beautiful, really breathtaking."

The delighted couple, who have two young sons together, got engaged at Christmas in 2013.

Vincent said at the time: "I went with my heart on the spur of the moment on Christmas morning and gave her a Christmas card in which I wrote 'Will you marry me?'

"I am a bit of a showman and had hoped to do something spectacular, but both Susan and myself have travelled and lived exciting lives, so I thought perhaps the most surprising gesture of all would be to do something understated in our cosy home on Christmas Day."

Their relationship has had its share of ups and down. They split for a while after Vincent confessed to an affair with Russian dancer Kristina Rhianoff, his Strictly colleague, while Susan was five-months pregnant.

But the couple have worked through their problems.
