Vitty joins DUP councillors

Published 09/12/2010

The DUP has selected Denny Vitty to take the seat left vacant by the recent death of ex-mayor Lawrence Walker on Castlereagh Borough Council.

Leader of the DUP Group on the Council Jimmy Spratt paid tribute to the late Councillor Walker “who served the people of Castlereagh so ably”.

He said Mr Vitty had previously served as a Councillor within Castlereagh and as the Chief Whip within the DUP group. He will represent the Castlereagh Central District electoral area.

“He will be a very able Councillor working on behalf of the people of the Borough and will bring skills to ensure that Castlereagh can maintain its reputation for delivering the best possible service to the ratepayers at the lowest possible cost,” he added.

Mr Vitty has also been a member of North Down Borough Council and of the UK Unionist Party in the past.
