Warrenpoint to Omeath bridge plan hailed
Plans for a cross-border bridge linking Northern Ireland with the Republic would “deliver significant benefits for tourism” both north and south.
That’s according to Failte Ireland’s chairman, who has said there was now “widespread recognition of the potential that exists in the area surrounding Carlingford Lough” — as part of the Narrow Water Bridge proposal, linking Warrenpoint to Omeath in Co Louth.
“An important project, the proposed bridge will facilitate easier access to a wider range of things to see and do,” Redmond O’Donoghue said.
Planning applications are currently before the Department of the Environment and the planning board in the Republic.
The SDLP’s Margaret Ritchie has also backed the plan.
