'We love to meet people of like minds'
Margaret Crawford is chair of the Ulster Trefoil Guild.
The Ulster Trefoil Guild is part of the UK-wide adult guiding organisation offering members personal and social opportunities while supporting guides and scouts.
It's annual meeting took place at the weekend at Albertbridge Congregational Church hall.
Margaret said: "Over 100 delegates travelled from all over Ulster to hear reports of activities over the past year. Members enjoy their monthly meeting with like-minded people in their guilds, having interesting speakers, activities and outings. During the year the Trefoil celebrated its 70th birthday with many parties and celebrations at guild and county level. A garden party was held at Lorne, the GG Training Centre and the guest of honour was Lady Sylvia Hermon."
The guest speaker at Saturday's annual meeting was Hazel Coates, a former Queen's guide.
Margaret said: "Hazel, a physiotherapist working with learning disabled children and adults, is chair of the British gymnastics disability committee.
"She was a former coach to the Irish team at the European Youth Special Olympic Games in Rome, World Games in Dublin and Irish head coach in Shanghai and Athens.
"She is currently preparing the Northern Ireland team for the national games this summer in Limerick.
"She gave a most interesting talk about her work."
Next year Ulster is hosting the national annual meeting in Londonderry on June 6 when it is expected that 1,000 delegates will travel here from all over the UK.
