Website raises funds to aid Natasha McShane's recovery
A website has been set up to help raise funds for the Co Armagh woman who was the victim of a horrific baseball bat attack in the US.
Friends of Silverbridge student Natasha McShane have created www.timefortasha.com to allow people to make donations and send messages to the 26-year-old.
It is understood any funds raised will be used to help the former pupil of Our Lady's Grammar School in Newry receive treatment at the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin, which specialises in brain injuries.
Natasha was left unable to walk or talk after she was attacked in Chicago three years ago by a robber who bludgeoned her over the back of the head. She had to be placed in a drug-induced coma by doctors after her life was left hanging in the balance.
Natasha, who has been left with severe brain injuries, needs round-the-clock care.
One person, Marcy Cruz, was jailed for 22 years earlier this month after she pleaded guilty to attempted murder. She admitted driving the getaway car and will testify against the alleged attacker, Heriberto Viramontes, who is due to go on trial in the US in September.
