West Belfast man to stand trial accused of multiple rape offences against two women
A west Belfast man is to stand trial accused of multiple rape offences against two different women.
The 25-year-old defendant is also alleged to have subjected them to other sexual assaults and made a child porn image.
He is not being named to ensure neither complainant is identified.
The accused appeared before Belfast Magistrates' Court today for a preliminary enquiry hearing to establish if he has a case to answer.
A total of 15 charges were put to him, including eight counts of rape, and causing one alleged victim to engage in sexual activity without her consent.
He is further accused of two common assaults and criminal damage to one woman's mobile phone.
All of the alleged offences were committed between February 2009 and August 2011.
No evidence was given or witnesses called at this stage in the case.
District Judge Fiona Bagnall backed prosecution submissions that the defendant has a case to answer.
She ordered him to be returned for trial at Belfast Crown Court on a date to be fixed, the Courts Service confirmed.
The accused was released on continuing bail of £500 until those proceedings get underway.
