A woman has been arrested by police investigating a series of distraction burglaries in Northern Ireland.

Detectives have charged a 43-year-old woman with a number of offences, including two counts of burglary, attempted burglary, and a number of motoring offences.

She is expected to appear before Newry Magistrates Court today.

The charges are in connection with a distraction burglary in Oliver Plunkett Park in Belleeks last Tuesday, another in Art McCooey Park, Crossmaglen on Thursday and an attempted burglary in Castleblaney Street, Newtownhamilton also on Thursday.

A PSNI spokesman said the charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.

"Detectives would appeal to anyone with any information about distraction burglaries in the South Armagh area to contact them on 101," he said.
