Woman (79) injured after being knocked to the ground in west Belfast street robbery

A 79-year-old woman has been injured after she was knocked to the ground during a street robbery in west Belfast.

It happened in the Shankill Road area on Thursday afternoon.

Shortly before 1.55pm police received a report that the woman had been knocked to the ground by an unknown person who then stole her handbag.

The person made off on foot in the direction of the Shankill Estate.

The woman sustained a bump to her head and a suspected dislocated arm as a result.

Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory is appealing for anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have any information which they believe may assist with the investigation to contact Detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non-emergency number 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
