Woman, 84, injured during robbery

An elderly woman has been taken to hospital with a broken arm and cut face after being assaulted and robbed in north Belfast.

The 84-year-old was walking with a friend near the Northern Ireland Hospice on Somerton Road when she was set upon on Sunday afternoon.

Police said an unknown assailant pushed the woman from behind before making off with her purse and bag at about 2.30pm.

She was taken to Royal Victoria Hospital to be treated for a fractured arm as well as cuts and bruises to her face.

Investigating police have asked for any witnesses or anyone with information to come forward.
