Woman arrested over axe murder

A woman has been arrested in connection with the murder of a man more than a year ago.

Basil McAfee, 50, was found dead after being attacked with a knife and an axe.

His body was found in the living room of his house at Henderson Avenue in December 2013.

This is the fifth arrest in connection with the killing.

Police Service of Northern Ireland detective chief inspector John McVea said the woman, 44, was detained in north Belfast this morning.

Mr McAfee was last seen alive on the evening of December 19 2013.

A 39-year-old man arrested earlier this week was released on bail pending further inquiries

The woman was later released on bail pending further inquiries.
