Woman attacked after gang armed with sticks break into east Belfast house

A woman has been attacked after a gang carrying sticks forced their way into a house in east Belfast.

It happened in the Witham Street area shortly after 7pm on Thursday.

The victim suffered minor injuries and inside of the property was also damaged.

Police are hunting four men and a woman believed to have been involved.

The assailants fled the scene in a small yellow car and a silver people carrier-type vehicle.

Police Service of Northern Ireland Detective Sergeant Conor Sweeney has appealed for anyone with information to come forward on 101.
