Woman badly hurt in house fire

A woman in her 50s is in a critical condition in hospital after escaping from a house fire.

She suffered serious burn and body injuries after fleeing through the window of a property at Mayollan Terrace in Coalisland, Co Tyrone, during the early hours of this morning.

A man in his 50s, who was also in the house when the blaze broke out shortly after midnight, was treated in hospital for injuries which were not believed to be life-threatening.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) said they were investigating the cause of the fire.

A spokesman said: "I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact CID in Dungannon police station on the non-emergency number 101.

"Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
