Woman dies in west Belfast house fire

A woman has died in a house fire on the edge of west Belfast.

The blaze in Lagmore was reported to police at about 5am today.

The victim was found dead at the scene and p olice said the cause of the fire was under investigation.

A PSNI spokesman said: "Police are currently at the scene of a fire at a house in the Hazel View area of Dunmurry.

"Police received a report of a fire at a house shortly before 5am.

"Emergency services attended but unfortunately one person was found deceased at the scene."

Sinn Fein MLA Jennifer McCann expressed condolences to the family.

"There is a deep sense of shock in the community this morning on the news that a woman has tragically died in a house fire."
