Woman finds son stabbed to death

A woman has found her son stabbed to death in a city property.

The body of Paschal McAfee, 50, was found by his mother in the house in Henderson Avenue, off Cavehill Road in north Belfast, on Friday.

Police say have launched a murder investigation.

Mr McAfee, also known as Basil, was last seen in an off-licence in Henderson Avenue at about 4pm on Thursday. He only recently moved into the area.

Detective Chief Inspector John McVea said officers need to find out where Mr McAfee went after being in the off-licence.

"Police are particularly keen to know where Basil was from approximately 4pm on Thursday 19 December," he said.

"We know that he had bought some alcohol in an off-licence just off the Cavehill Road, just before 4pm. We're keen to know who Basil was with just after that time, or where he had been."
