Woman 'found in a hotel bedroom with schoolboy aged 14'
A court has been told that a 19-year-old woman was wearing only a towel when police found her with a 14-year-old boy dressed only in shorts in a hotel bedroom.
The woman — who cannot be named for legal reasons — appeared in court in Londonderry on Monday charged with child abduction, engaging in sexual activity with a child, possessing cannabis and possessing the drug with intent to supply it, and possessing alcohol with intent to supply it to a minor.
A police officer told District Judge Barney McElholm that the boy had paid for the bedroom in the Drummond Hotel in Ballykelly, Co Derry, last Saturday.
After police had received information, they went to the hotel and spoke to staff who confirmed that the defendant had booked the room with the boy.
Objecting to bail, the same officer said that earlier this month “the defendant was granted bail on a charge of sexual activity with the same boy”.
After her arrest the defendant told the police: “Just leave us alone. We love each other and we just want to be alone.”
Applying for bail, solicitor David Brewster said: “The contact had been initiated by the complainant who told my client he was aged 16.”
Mr Brewster said neither threats nor violence was used and he described both parties as “extremely immature young people”.
He said that a bail address other than the defendant's home address was available.
The defendant was released on her own bail of £750 together with one surety, also of £750, to appear before the court again on March 28.
As part of her bail conditions she was ordered “to have no contact whatsoever” with the boy.
She was also ordered not to have any unsupervised contact with children under the age of 16.
