Woman held over officer bomb bid

A 25-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a bomb attack on a police officer last year.

She was detained by officers from the PSNI's serious crime branch in north Belfast and was taken to Antrim for questioning.

The Police Service of Northern Ireland (PSNI) constable was preparing to take his wife and two children out for Sunday lunch on December 30 when he discovered a device under his car at his home in Upper Newtownards Road in east Belfast.

Senior officers said the attack could have killed the policeman and his family.

Later, a spokesman for the PSNI said the woman had been released pending a report to the Public Prosecution Service.
