A woman has been left with serious injuries after she was hit by a taxi in West Belfast.

The woman, aged in her 30s, was walking along the Monagh Road around 9pm on Friday 12 February when she was involved in the accident with the taxi.

The taxi stopped and it was initially believed the woman’s injuries were minor, however upon attending hospital her injuries were found to be more serious, although not life threatening.

Police have launched an appeal for witnesses to the accident on the Monagh Road, near the junction with Springfield Road, West Belfast, on the evening of Friday 12 February, to contact them.

Constable McWilliams said: “The taxi driver, the injured woman and the taxi passengers all remain in contact with us and are assisting as with our enquiries, but I would ask any other witnesses to this RTC to come forward. Please contact Woodbourne Police Station on the non-emergency number 101.”
