Woman hurt in leap from blaze flat
A woman in her 20s is in a serious condition in hospital after leaping from a first-floor flat to escape an arson fire.
She sustained fractures to her back and feet in the fall having already suffered burns to her arms and body in the blaze at the block in Newtownards in the early hours of Sunday.
Detectives believe the fire started when a scooter was torched in a communal hallway of the Bristol Park property at around 4.30am.
While the woman's condition is described as serious her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Police are appealing for information about the fire.
