Woman injured in sectarian attack
A woman has been punched and had her face slashed in a sectarian attack in Londonderry.
The victim, aged in her 20s, was walking through the subway tunnel in the Duke Street area of Derry's Waterside, beside the railway station, when she was approached by two men and two women at around 10.30pm last night.
Police said one of the men asked her for a cigarette and when she declined, punched her in the face and began shouting sectarian abuse at her.
Officers said one of the women from the group then walked up to the victim and sliced her face with some type of weapon.
The victim was treated in hospital for a large cut and bruising to her face.
All members of the group are believed to be aged in their 20s.
The woman attacker was described as being approximately 20 years old, with long blonde curly hair, wearing a yellow top , denim leggings and fluorescent coloured footwear.
Police confirmed they are treating the assault as a hate crime and appealed for any witnesses to come forward.
