Woman rescued by unknown bystander on Boucher Road during last night of Tennents Vital festival

By Staff Reporter

A woman saved another female from a more serious sexual attack in south Belfast on the last night of the Tennents Vital festival, police have revealed.

The PSNI said the victim was in the Boucher Road area when approached by a male who attempted to kiss her on the lips between 8pm and 8.30pm on August 24.

"The male then grabbed the victim by her upper body before attempting to remove her shorts. An unknown female intervened to help and the male walked off," a PSNI spokesman said.

"The male is described as being white, in his mid to late 30s, around 5ft 8ins tall, of small/slim build with short black greying hair and a combed-down fringe. He had one of his ears pierced and spoke with a local accent.

"He was wearing a black top with buttons on the front and light-coloured jeans. We would appeal to the female who intervened or indeed any witness to contact us."
