Women unhurt after house targeted in shooting from passing car

Two women escaped injury when a shot was fired through the window of house from a passing car.

The women were inside the property in the Rodney Drive area of west Belfast when the shooting took place around 1.40am.

A silver coloured car was seen in the area at the time.

Police said a motive for the attack had not yet been established.

Detectives have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

West Belfast MP Paul Maskey condemned the shooting.

"This gun attack was wrong, served no purpose whatsoever and should be condemned," said the Sinn Fein representative.

"I have spoken to the women who were in the house when it happened and while thankfully neither were injured, they are understandably very shocked and shaken.

"This incident has caused shock in the local community. They do not want this type of thing happening on their streets.

"Anyone with any information on this attack should bring this forward to the police."
