Women’s role in public life to be examined
A conference focusing on the role of women in public life with keynote speakers including Bernadette McAliskey and MEP Martina Anderson is headed for Londonderry.
Examining what women bring to leadership that differs from their male counterparts, the event will also give tips to participants on public speaking and explore how to get appointed to a state board.
Women into Public Life (WIPL) is organising this final conference to celebrate the achievements of a project which focused on the under representation of women in public life through training programmes and research.
WIPL co-ordinator Noirin Clancy said: “If we had more women in leadership would we be in such a financial crisis? What do women bring to leadership that is different and how can we ensure women are at the helm as we create a more just and fair society — these are some of the questions that will be addressed by our speakers.”
The conference on September 27 is free. To book, email: Theresa@gmail.com.
