Would-be car hijacker targets driver leaving Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast

A motorist has been targeted by a would-be car hijacker as they exited the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast.

Police are appealing for information following the attempted hi-jacking in the Grosvenor Road area on Tuesday June 2, at approximately 9.20pm.

The vehicle was exiting the Royal Victoria Hospital when a young male approached the car and attempted to take the keys from the ignition.

The driver of the vehicle described the man as approximately 18-years-old with dark patchy facial hair wearing a dark hoody, tracksuit bottoms and white trainers.

After failing to take the keys from the car he made off into the Divis area.

Detective Sergeant Melanie McGrory said: “If anyone has information on this incident please contact police on the non-emergency number 101 or anonymously through the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
