Yob jailed for racist abuse at hospital
A 30-year-old man who racially abused staff including doctors at Belfast's Royal Victoria Hospital has been jailed for two months.
Deputy District Judge John Connolly branded Garry Alan Mongomery's behaviour as "disgraceful".
Montgomery, from Springfield Road in the city, appeared at Belfast Magistrates Court to be sentenced on a charge of disorderly behaviour.
A PPS representative said that on January 10 this year Mongomery was seen outside a property on Springfield Road and was subsequently taken to the A&E department at the Royal.
While in the A&E, Montgomery racially abused a black security guard before continuing the verbal abuse and shouting racist abuse at other members of staff, including doctors.
When he was warned by police about his behaviour, he then verbally abused the officers, using homophobic language, and was arrested.
