Football: Courts come up with the goods

Premier division

Lettershandoney kept their Premier title hopes alive with a comfortable 4-1 home win over Maghera Strollers with Gavin and Darren McShane on the score sheet.

Lincoln Courts at last took some of their cup form into their league game at Lisnagelvin where even minus a number of regulars they easily defeated Foylebank 4-0 with goals from Cormie, Starrett, Godfrey and the ever reliable Patterson.

Roe Rovers had a good 5-3 home win over the disappointing Sion Swifts Collie Butcher scored two with brother Barney, Timmy Douglas and Danny Quinn also on target, the game between Drummond and BBOB fell victim to the weather.

The First Division threw up a couple of shock results with the top two losing, Burndennett went down 4-3 at Roe Rovers Reserves while leaders Claudy Rovers went down 3-1 at Eglinton. Ardmore continued their climb up the table after a 5-1 away win at BBOB Reserves with goals from Sean Roddy with two, Sean Hargan, Sean Doyle and Peter McLaughlin also on target.

Claudy United caused the shock of the day in the Second Division defeating leaders Tullyally Colts 7-1, Trevor McSparron and Christopher McLaughlin each scored twice with the other goal scorers being Kyle Montgomery, Gary Hamilton and Keith Hamilton.

Douglas Bridge maintained their promotion push with a 3-1 home win over City Colts, while Newtowne Reserves and Newbuildings Reserves shared the points and two goals, Churchill lost again this time going down 4-1 to Eglinton Reserves.
