Confusion reigns among parents and teachers, still awaiting a definitive
statement on the future of secondary education and wondering how to
interpret the new timetable proposed for ending academic selection.

Educational reformers in Northern Ireland claim that our children will be
given a new education relevant to the 21st century, while many parents ask: "
Why are they about to destroy a post primary system that is providing some of
the best results in the United Kingdom?" Moreover, the proposed new
education offers almost nothing novel, but contains much that has been
tried, tested, and proved disastrous in both the United States and mainland
Britain.
It's a difficult and emotional issue, abortion. And it's come as no surprise
to me that the four main parties here are opposed to abortion being made
available to women in Northern Ireland. After all, it's only in recent times
that we stopped putting 'bad girls' into homes and selling their babies to
rich Americans.
It seems there is hardly a day goes past without history being made in the
affairs of Northern Ireland. The latest development recalls one of the
darkest days in the province's history, the Omagh bombing on August 15,
1998, when 29 people and unborn twins were killed.
