Staff at Northern Ireland's largest call centre were in shock after one of their co-workers was exposed as a crossdressing child rapist.

Vile former cop Eric Millar was 'outed' to colleagues as a seven-times rapist during a furious bust-up in the canteen of the Co Down call centre he works in.

Last night his employers - MM Teleperformance - were standing by the shamed ex-RUC officer.

The firm described the former scoutmaster as "a model employee".

But his co-workers in the facility at Clandeboye Retail Park in Bangor, Co Down, described working alongside Millar as a "sick joke".

Millar was jailed in 1999 for waging a five-year campaign of sick sexual abuse against a girl who was just 15 when he first raped her.

Between 1988 and 1993, he raped his victim no fewer than seven times.

On one occasion Millar dressed up in high heels, stockings and suspenders to sexually abuse the girl in her parents' home.

His co-workers were shocked to learn about his gruesome past when Millar was tackled by a workmate just over a week ago.

Said one colleague: "Millar was having lunch in the canteen and one of the other workers stood up and announced that he was a 'filthy rapist' and told everyone he had been in jail for raping a young girl.

"Everyone was stunned and shocked that someone convicted for something like that can be able to work in a place where the staff are mostly women.

"It's just a sick joke and it has left a lot of them very worried."

A spokeswoman for MM Teleperformance said the company was aware of Millar's shameful past.

"He did have a conviction and he did put it all on his forms - they (his employers) were fully aware of it," she said.

"They have been working with police and there has been no repeat offending.

"He has been a model employee.

"We would not have thought he would present a threat to people."

Remorseless dad-of-two Millar was sentenced to 10 years in 1999 for his sick campaign of abuse.

The ex-scout master first raped his 15-year-old victim in the loft of a church hall.

He had lured her there by telling her he had scouting equipment stored in the loft and wanted to check on it.
