‘Please live within the rules of life’, priest tells Donegal crash victim's funeral
Young people attending the funeral of one of the victims of last Sunday's crash were implored to live life “on its terms, within its rules and boundaries”.
Eamonn McDaid (22) was “a bubbly character and wild for craic”, Cockhill Parish Priest Fr John Walshe said.
The young carpenter and mechanic was serious about his work but also enjoyed his football and socialising with his friends.
“He was the life and soul of every party. He loved singing well into the morning. His laugh and smile was infectious. He loved sailing about the country in a car,” the priest said.
But last Sunday night's “grim tragedy” had left the community reeling in shock and so many families “shattered”.
The priest addressed young people in the congregation, imploring them to be “careful and even wise”.
“There are no guarantees but care and caution are mighty helps in the effort at holding on to life.
“I don't mean to patronise you. When I was your age, I too felt indestructible but none of us is.
“That's the plain fact of life, so please, please, please live life on its terms, within its rules and boundaries,” the priest said.
