Clinton visit: A cosy chat, then it's back on the plane

For a special relationship, it was also a remarkably brief one.
Hillary Clinton woke up in London yesterday morning, held a meeting with the Foreign Secretary, and raced to Chequers for a picture with the Prime Minister.
Then she boarded a flight for Ireland. And, as suddenly as she had arrived, she was gone.
But Mrs Clinton, on her first solo trip to the UK as Secretary of State, offered a lot of warm words on her day trip, and a cosy chat with Gordon Brown must have done wonders after his recent struggles for face time with her Nobel laureate boss.
Speaking to reporters at Chequers, Mrs Clinton offered a spirited defence of transatlantic relations, said to have been under strain.
“I have a special personal relationship with the prime minister,” she insisted. And he kissed her to prove it.
