Decision due on legal challenge to Fermanagh/South Tyrone result
A decision will be made today on whether to challenge the Fermanagh/South Tyrone General Election result.
For the last three weeks lawyers and specialists in vote counting practice have been challenging the Electoral Office over alleged discrepancies in the count which eventually declared Michelle Gildernew the winner.
The Sinn Fein minister was declared the constituency’s MP by just four votes after three recounts.
Those challenging the Electoral Office’s verification of votes process are playing their cards close to their chest on whether they intend to go to court today to seek a petition to declare the result invalid.
