European Commission proposals for the next long-term EU budget will cost the equivalent if every UK family handing over as much as £7 a year, an MEP has warned.
Diane Dodds said the planned 5% increase from 214 to 22 would cost the UK an extra £1bn.
"With people already struggling due to the current economic climate, we simply cannot afford an increase in EU taxation and the greater costs to businesses and consumers," she added.
