Fine Gael to unveil new team
The make-up of the Fine Gael new front bench will be unveiled next week, party leader Enda Kenny has said.
On a visit to Northern Ireland with a delegation including two TDs who voted against him in last week's leadership contest, the re-appointed head of the Republic’s opposition gave few clues as to who would occupy the top jobs.
He said he had not yet spoken to his sacked deputy Richard Bruton since his failed bid to wrest control of the party from him, but stressed his desire to put the matter behind him and move on.
Mr Kenny dismissed his entire shadow cabinet after losing the support of most of his senior team during Mr Bruton's failed leadership heave.
Despite the initial hammer blow he managed to secure victory within the parliamentary party leaving senior rebel TDs sweating over their future.
Mr Kenny was joined by colleagues in the Fine Gael group on the British Irish Parliamentary Body for a series of engagements in Northern Ireland.
