Gregory Campbell faces TUV challenge from William Ross

A former Ulster Unionist MP is back in the electoral fray, standing for Jim Allister's TUV against the DUP man who ousted him almost a decade ago.

Political veteran William Ross is again taking on Gregory Campbell in East Londonderrry.

Mr Campbell took the seat from Mr Ross in 2001 and has comfortably held it since then.

In the 2005 General Election, the DUP had a majority of over 7,000. Mr Ross was a strong opponent of the Good Friday Agreement within the UUP and is now the TUV's president.

“Many people will ask the question why I have put my name forward again for front line politics,” he said yesterday.

“Quite simply, like many thousands of decent Ulster men and women I have been outraged by the general behaviour of many Members of Parliament, including some from Northern Ireland.”
