Jim Allister: I’ve upset a cosy Stormont
Saturday, 19 November 2011
Stormont is an “unmitigated disaster” as an effective Government, hardline unionist Jim Allister is to warn today.
In a speech to the annual conference of his Traditional Unionist Voice party, he will also claim his presence in the Assembly has challenged the “cosy consensus”.
And he will tell the gathering in Cookstown that if MLAs were paid by results, they would owe the public money.
Ahead of the event, Mr Allister referred to his unearthing this week of apparent proposals to remove Royal emblems from the Prison Service, which sparked a resignation threat from First Minister Peter Robinson. He accused Mr Robinson’s DUP of falling “asleep at the wheel” on the issue.
