Northern Ireland was on the agenda at yesterday's government meeting at Downing Street, a blundering cabinet minister has inadvertently revealed.
International Development Secretary Andrew Mitchell was photographed leaving Number 10 with confidential documents on show which revealed sensitive information about Afghanistan.
Item one on the agenda was headed "Northern Ireland update".
The Belfast Telegraph understands this was a routine update on the security situation.
The documents also apparently contained comments that President of Afghanistan Hamid Karzai's plans to step down in 2014 would "make politics in the country a better place".
