Pressure mounting on Ross over prank calls

Published 30/10/2008

Pressure is mounting on TV presenter Jonathan Ross today as investigations continue into the prank calls that have caused widespread controversy across Britain.

Ross and fellow presenter Russell Brand were both temporarily suspended yesterday due to the furore over the messages they left on the answerphone of Fawlty Towers actor Andrew Sachs.

Brand later resigned from his job with BBC Radio 2, saying he took "complete responsibility" for the calls.

He said he got caught up in the moment and failed to realise that he was hurting the feelings of a veteran actor and his granddaughter.

Ross has also issued a public apology for his "juvenile and thoughtless" remarks, while filming for his Friday Night show was cancelled hours before it was due to be recorded last night.
