£3,000 bill as Mayo hurlers miss flight after clocks go forward
The spring time call for the clocks to jump forward has landed Mayo hurlers a huge bill after they appear to have forgotten to adjust their watches.
The hurlers missed their flight home from London after the host team’s 3-18 to 1-10 win over Mayo at Ruislip on Saturday afternoon, costing the county board a whopping £3,000
The entire party was forced to book new flights in a misunderstanding thought to have been down to the seasonal adjustment of daylight saving time.
In today’s Irish Examiner, Mayo hurling board chairman John Hopkins is quoted as saying: "It shouldn’t have happened. Someone has to answer for this. There is a lot of fine work being done in hurling in the county, but incidents like this ruin a lot of that."
