Baby boy suffers broken arms and leg in assault

A 10-month-old baby in the Republic suffered two broken arms and a broken leg while his mother was also assaulted, a court heard yesterday.
Inspector Tom Kennedy told a special sitting of Ennis District Court in Co Clare that the boy was hospitalised at Limerick |Regional Hospital as a result of the “very serious injuries”.
One of the child's arms had been broken in three places.
Larry Connors (18), of 3 Towncourt, Shannon, Co Clare, was before the court in relation to three Section 2 assault charges against the baby's |18-year-old mother and his girlfriend at the time.
Giving evidence of arrest, charge and caution, detective garda David Laing said Mr Connors replied: “I didn't do it”, when charged. Mr Connors will appear at Shannon District Court on Thursday.
