Berkeley survivor Aoife Beary is “over the moon” to be settling back home and nabbed a meeting with One Direction during their Dublin concerts.

A smiling Aoife was pictured backstage with Niall Horan and his three bandmates on their recent stop in the capital.

Its been a while since there has been an update and many people have been asking how Aoife has been getting on. Again we...

Posted by Friends of Aoife Beary on Monday, 26 October 2015

The brave 21-year-old student returned to the capital following the balcony collapse which claimed the lives of six Irish students.

She is now undergoing treatment in the National Rehabilitation Centre in Dún Laoghaire.

An update posted on the Friends of Aoife Beary fundraising page said that her recovery has been “amazing” but that it would be months before she could achieve her goal of returning to college.

She us undergoing speech therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy in the south Dublin facility.

“Aoife is over the moon to be home with her friends and extended family. She enjoys so much hanging out with all her friends, and has even managed one or two excursions; most notably to see her  number one band One Direction when they played recently in Dublin,” the update read.

A trust has been set up to cater for her current and future financial needs following various fundraising efforts to support the student in the wake of the disaster.

She is still coming to terms with the tragic events of that night and all of the J1 students involved were urged to look after each other as they process the loss of their friends.

“Aoife, like many others, is coming to terms with the awful consequences of the accident, particularly the loss of so many very good friends,” the Facebook post read.

“While not physically injured, we are aware that some of the J1 students involved continue to struggle, so we urge you all to please take care of yourselves and each other.”

She was left fighting for her life following the accident.

"Again we want to say thanks for all the messages of love and support we got during our long and difficult summer particularly in the early, very stressful days, when Aoife was fighting for her life," it read.
