Body of missing man found in river

The body of a man last seen fishing with a friend has been recovered from a river.

Navy divers found the 27-year-old in the River Lee in Cork city near the Thomas Davis Bridge.

They searched for three hours before his remains were recovered at 6pm.

The body was brought to Cork University Hospital, where a post-mortem examination will take place.

Gardai are investigating how the man ended up in the water.

It is understood he was last seen on Saturday evening fishing with a friend.
